Print Awareness-

I did this assessment on Hector. Hector is in 8 years old in the 2 grades. I follow the assessment activities from Reading Rockets on Print Awareness.

Give a student a storybook and ask him or her to show you:

The front of the book

The title of the book

Where you should begin reading

A letter

A word

The first word of a sentence

The last word of a sentence

The first and last word on a page

Punctuation marks

A capital letters

A lowercase letter

The back of the book

Hector did well, he wasn’t to sure of punctuation signs.

Phonemic Awareness:

Silly Names Song: Building Phonemic Awareness

Hectors Phonemic Awareness was assessed with the silly name song.

He did well on this assessment. He smiled as we sung the song.

Phonics:

I used a Letter Chart with pictures. I made the letter sound, Hector followed and match the correct picture. This was also, a fun assessment activity.

Fluency:

I did a Running Record with Hector.  Hector read A Bubble Net and a Buffet. Hector struggled with the multi-syllable words.  Here’s Hectors calculations. I showed Hector how to divide the words into parts and to “chunks” it.
